M. Meiya Liao, OD

Dr. Mary Meiya Liao has provided state-of-the-art eye care to patients at Coastal Eye Specialists since 2003, focusing on vision care, contact lenses, and the management of a variety of common eye problems. She is dedicated to helping her patients achieve clear vision and maintain strong, healthy eyes.

During her training, Dr. Liao gained valuable experience in many aspects of eye care. She assisted in the coordination of CLEK, the first national study of the corneal disease keratoconus. She also worked as an ophthalmic technician at the renowned Jules Stein Eye Institute. Volunteer work at the LA Free Clinic rounded out her training, providing exposure to the eye care needs of a most needy population.

Trained in the latest advances in eye and vision care, Dr. Liao holds certification in the treatment and management of ocular disease by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry. This qualification reflects her education and training to manage many eye conditions quickly and efficiently, but with the added advantage of ready access to Coastal Eye’s ophthalmologist when a problem requires additional expertise.

Dr. Liao grew up in Ventura County in a family dedicated to medicine, and maintains close ties with friends and family in the area. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, biking, hiking and trying new foods.
